Headed south this weekend to Jinju (only about 2 hours from Daegu by express bus from Dongdaegu) to check out the lantern festival (also saw parts of the drama festival the other side of the river). The festival site was huge, hundreds of lanterns to see - from the traditional lantern tunnels, country-themed, dinosaurs, comic and cartoon figures, boys peeing, robotic steam breathing dragons, torture/punishment, royal guards, Korean cities... Jinju also has a "castle" with a story about a local woman who was a "professional female entertainer" - Jun explained in those days they were more educated than most women!
